The non-profit organisation Læs For Livet (Read for Your Life) is founded on the insight that reading increases children’s imagination, reading skills and social mobility. Page by page they create change in local communities by organising mobile libraries, talks and book donations.
In an ever more digital reality, even booklovers like Læs for Livet need a strong website as well as a potent visual language to raise awareness of their important work. They asked us to help them create a warm-hearted, yet powerful visual identity that focuses on the change that literature can bring about - instead of on the stark circumstances that often surround at-risk youth.
Since 2012, Læs for Livet has donated more than 70,000 books to 65 institutional libraries, marginalised children and youth. And they don’t intend to stop here.
With a never-ending need for book donations, we designed a website solution that emphasises Læs for Livet’s ability to not just tell stories but to write new life stories. Combined with an extensive focus on user experience, the website caters to book donators as well as social workers.
The visual identity is a testament to the many positive things that reading can give rise to. Happy faces, bright colours and relatable quotes communicate the serious subject without it feeling heavy.
By letting the narrative of social innovation take centre stage, Kontrapunkt created consistency between Læs for Livet’s website, values and visual identity.
Today, Læs for Livet’s website underlines how easy and rewarding it is to give and receive free, customised libraries. It showcases the organisation’s tireless will to create real change and share their knowledge. Straight from the heart.
