Michael Nilsson

Creative Director

Michael is Kontrapunkt’s Creative Director, and he has a diverse experience that encompasses 20 years in the design industry. Driven by curiosity, passion and deep insights about all aspects of branding, his principal task is to make sure that all our work is on point.

With his holistic approach, Michael helps our clients explore and unravel the full potential of their brand through memorable and engaging brand experiences across all touchpoints. Pairing strategic insights about customer behaviour with an aesthetic sense, Michael ensures the right mix of people and skills for any given project.

Prior to his position at Kontrapunkt, Michael has been Creative Director at Magic People Voodoo People, where he took part in creating acclaimed work for B&O Play among others. His past experience also includes being Creative Director and co-founder of Hello Group, working with a wide roster of international clients such as Adobe, Fidelity and HP. Also, Michael has worked as Senior Creative at Make, Creative Director at Tribal DDB as well as a designer at Imaginary Forces, Hollywood.

Michael is a self-taught designer, who found his career path within branding and design after initially starting out in the music industry as a composer and musician. Rooted in digital design, he has progressed through creative disciplines such as visual identity, print, advertising, art direction and packaging design. He is a frequent writer and debater on industry topics, a jury member for AWWWARDS and a recipient of numerous design awards.
