Looking back at Folkemødet

I had to Google 'Folkemødet in English' because I had no idea what to call it in any other language than Danish. I found the English term is something as short as 'The People's Democratic Festival'. So yes, let us stick with 'Folkemødet'.

Folkemødet is a meeting between people and politicians - a place where ideas, visions and missions are shared for three days with talks, events and debates. It is all gulped down with amazing landscape and beer by Svaneke brewery. The beautiful island, Bornholm, provides the venue for Danish politicians to debate current political issues. All events are free, and within walking distance of each other. Most often the talks take place in tents arranged by organizers such as policymakers, companies, NGOs and news outlets. This year the main focus at Folkemødet was the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Here are a few numbers from Folkemødet 2019:

See you next year Bornholm - you beautiful creature!
