In a globalized world, Chinese and Western alphabets become increasingly intertwined. This brings a lot of new challenges for typographers. However, our Managing Director, Bo Linnemann, is at the rescue. With the ambitious research project Typasia, he aims to create a visual linkage between Chinese and Western sign systems. He recently presented his thoughts at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2014 in Barcelona, the world’s leading airport terminal conference. Airport passengers are easily confused when English letters and Chinese characters occur on the same sign. The different visual expressions too often give the impression of conveying different messages. Whether it is Chinese or English - every airport must speak with one voice. An aligned typographic language makes this possible and with Typasia communication across continents can be enhanced. Letter by letter. Character by character.
