KONTRAPUNKT

Mefisto - A modern power play

Playing on the Danish Royal Theater, September 29 – November 5 2004.

Experience the auditorium as a room of power in director Anders Paulin’s and scenographer Joachim Hamous’ interpretation of Klaus Mann’s famous novel. A conceptual play dealing with the notions of power and the arts.

Kontrapunkt has developed the logo and visual identity for the play.

Mefisto is about power, and power today has an almost abstract form. It can be hard to get and to find out where it takes place. And therefore it becomes difficult to visualize power and give it form, says Bo Linnemann of Kontrapunkt.

Nonetheless, power today has distinct aesthetics, we find it both appealing and repulsive. And that it why we really have both enjoyed and suffered when working with the visual language of Mefisto and power. And I guess the same thing will happen for everyone watching the play, says Bo Linnemann.

The play shows on the Turbinehallerne stage of The Royal Theater, and the performers are Bodil Jørgensen, Helle Hertz, Stig Hoffmeyer, Ulver Skuli Abildgaard, Anders Mossling, and Maria Rossing.
