KONTRAPUNKT

New visual communication system for the Danish S-train network

Although the DSB S-train network communicates planned track-changes long time in advance, most travellers are still baffled when the train doesn't arrive on time. Despite posters, pamphlets and brochures, research shows that travellers first become aware of the changes when they stand on the platform and the train doesn't come. Since travel habits are hard to change, the information on the train platforms must be as easy to decode as possible.

In order to accommodate this problem, Kontrapunkt helped the DSB S-train network with developing a new system that communicates planned track-changes in a fast and efficient manner. The new concept makes use of well-established design elements and tools and creates a consistent grid for all communication making it easy to read, interpret and understand. The new system is implemented on general and specific posters and brochures, and communicates planned track-changes on the S-train network covering all of greater Copenhagen.
