When Kgs Nytorv Metro Station is transformed into a mood universe of light and sound, Kontrapunkt is behind the bar and sitting area at street level that facilitate the complete installation in the underground.
Throughout week 33 the 1.1 million metro-users will be able to experience URBAN FOREST – a light, sound and video installation. At street level we have created the lounge and information area with public seating functions primarily meant to facilitate the opening and press ceremony on Tuesday 17.
Urban Forest is the first in a series of spectacular art projects under The Reframing Initiative, which is subsequently placed in London, Paris, New York and Shanghai over the next three years. First stop is the Metro station at Kongens Nytorv where the installation spreads all the way from the street down the escalator and on to the platform until you step inside the train.
Urban Forest challenges and rethinks the city as a framework. The project is based on the fact that our surroundings influence our moods. The work is a reframing of the metro station’s "cold" room to an enjoyable, recreational universe. With video projections, sound and light the installation transforms the metro into a quiet and aesthetic contemplation room that appeals to all senses.
Experience Urban Forest from Tuesday 17th - Sunday 22nd August.
