A set of changes has been implemented in the Kontrapunkt group of companies.
The group consists of three operating companies:
- Kontrapunkt, the brand design agency.
- KP2, the implementation and production management agency
- Kontrapunkt Online, the strategic digital agency.
New chairman of the board of directors
Mr. Lars Almblom has assumed the position as chairman of the board of directors. Almblom holds a number of board positions and has been a top executive at Novo Nordisk, where he among other things served as the global COO. Almblom takes over from Mr. Robin Philip, a lawyer and partner at the law firm Bruun Hjejle. Mr. Philip maintains his seat on the board.
Co-founder leaves daily operations
The co-founder of Kontrapunkt and one of the leading figures in Danish design, Kim Meyer Andersen, (64), has decided to step back from daily operations and focus on his role as a major shareholder and a board member of all companies in the group. He will continue his work to strengthen the design business through his work at Danish Design Organization and his collaboration with the design schools.
New managing director
The new board has decided on a strategy based on the goal of consolidating Kontrapunkt’s position as the leading creative Scandinavian brand design agency with a rooster of ambitious, global clients.
As a consequence of the chosen strategic direction for Kontrapunkt the managing director of Kontrapunkt Malene Sihm Vejlsgaard and creative director Martin Lasthein Hansen have regrettably decided to step down as of January 1st, 2010 to pursue opportunities that are more aligned with their professional interests.
New managing director of Kontrapunkt will be Mrs. Jasmi-Maaria Bonnén. Mrs. Bonnén, who is of Finnish nationality, has been with Kontrapunkt for three years as head of brand strategy. Jasmi came to Kontrapunkt from the position of marketing manager at L’Oréal Danmark and prior to that she worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co.
Mr. Bo Linnemann, co-founder of Kontrapunkt and one of the world’s leading identity designers will assume the position as creative director at Kontrapunkt.
Adjustment in organizational capacity
To adjust the organizational capacity to the global financial crisis, the Kontrapunkt Group has decided to reduce the workforce with 10 people all together. Over the next half year 4 people from Kontrapunkt, 2 people from KP2 and 4 people from the group shared service center will unfortunately leave the company.
Kontrapunkt Online has not been affected by the changes and continues to grow.
Also, Kontrapunkt continues to build its office in Tokyo, Japan. KP2 has for the 2nd year in a row been designated a Gazelle company due to its high growth rates and overall performance and continues to expand its recently opened office in Århus.
Looking ahead to 2010
Bo Linnemann says:
“It’s unfortunate that we have been forced to say goodbye to some good people. But as the world economy is under pressure, we also have had to adjust. I’m, however, confident that with this new and leaner set-up we are in a very good position to help our clients grow by design and seize the opportunities of the post-recession world.
We are currently in negotiations with several Fortune 500 companies about major rebranding projects, so 2010 could very well become a very interesting year for us.”
There will be a reception for Mr. Meyer Andersen.
Date is to be announced.
