For further information please contact senior brand strategist Svante Lindeburg /The economy of Nigeria, long hobbled by political instability, corruption, and poor macroeconomic management, has undergone substantial economic growth and has just overtaken South Africa as the fastest growing African economy.
One of the leading management consultancies in the region Ciuci Consulting asked Kontrapunkt to team up with them in order to develop a repositioning strategy for one of the top 5 banks in Nigeria.
In order to help the bank with its challenges Senior Brand Strategist Svante Lindeburg and Managing Director Rasmus Bech Hansen traveled to Lagos. Lagos is currently the 2nd most populous city in Africa with a population of about 15.5 million and still growing.
“Of course Lagos isn’t Los Angeles or London,” says Svante Lindeburg. “But that being said we were amazed of how easy it was to adjust to the work climate. Ciuci Consulting operates out of Lagos but hire consultants and MBAs from all over the world – from Harvard to LBS. Working for a Nigerian bank is actually not that different than working for a Nordic one.”
Further Svante and Rasmus were invited by Ciuci Consulting to hold a seminar about nation branding – focusing on how Nigeria could brand themselves in the future touching on topics such as the mobile industry, tourism, political influence, investments and cultural export.
“Nigeria is very interesting marked for Kontrapunkt. If you just consider the mobile industry for example. Today, more than 68 million people now have a mobile phone in Nigeria, which is a lot higher than people with credit card. Nigeria could be the new frontier when it comes to payment over the phone, and I believe that we will see some true innovation coming out of the country. We have previously done a project for a large telecom company in Nigeria and we look forward to more projects in the region,” says Rasmus Bech Hansen.
